DAY 1

 

Oban ferry to Craignure (50 mins)

 

Duart Castle

Duart Caslte the clan seat of the MacLean’s.  It stands like a sentinel as the Calmac ferries enter the sound of Mull. 

 

Inch Kenneth

View the highland home of the infamous Mitford sisters from the shoreline at Gribun rocks.

 

Macquarie Mausoleum

Macquarie is often described as ‘the father of Australia’ due to his work as Governor of New South Wales from 1810 – 1821.

 

Calgary Bay

Calgary Bay is a beautiful sandy beach on the North West coast and gives its name to the 2nd city of Alberta, Canada. 

 

Glengorm Castle - café and grounds

Glengorm Castle is a 19th century country house located 4 miles North West of Tobermory.  

 

Tobermory

Tobermory is the main town on Mull with over 1000 inhabitants.  It is a picture postcard port with its brightly coloured harbour-front buildings.

DAY 2 

 

Tobermory ferry to Kilchoan (35 mins). 

 

Ardnamurachan and Sanna Bay

The most westerly point in the UK mainland.

 

Tioram Castle

Traditional seat of the Clan MacDonald of Clan Ranald. 

 

Arisaig

Arisaig is a pretty village boasting superb coastal scenery.  

 

Mallaig ferry to Skye, Armadale (35 mins). 

 

Broadford (2 x nights). 

The second largest village on Skye and a good base to explore the island. 

 

 

 

DAY 3

 

The Cuillins

Traverse beneath the Black Mountains which are reputed to be the most spectacular and most challenging mountain range in the British Isles. 

 

Dunvegan Castle

Built on a rock in an idyllic lochside setting.   Dunvegan is the oldest continuously occupied castle in Scotland and has been the ancestral home of the Chiefs of the Clan MacLeod for 800 years.   

 

Quiraing

The Quiraing is a spectacular outcrop of rock on the northernmost peninsula of Skye.

 

Old Man of Storr

The Old Man Of Storr is an impressive pinnacle that stands alone guarding a backdrop of cliffs.  

 

Broadford (overnight)

 

 

DAY 4

 

Eilean Donan Castle

Iconic and probably the most recognisable highland castle in Scotland.  

 

Invergary

A village at the foot of Glengarry as it links with the Great Glen between Fort William and Inverness.

 

Spean Bridge

Visit the Commando Memorial which is dedicated to soldiers who trained in this area for special operations during WWII. 

 

Fort William

Lying in the shadow of Ben Nevis, Fort William is the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’ and the main town in Lochaber.

 

Castle Stalker

Castle Stalker is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.

AVAILABILITY

The Inner Islands tour will follow the Mull and Ardnamurachan tour route until it joins the A830 at Lochailort on Day 2.  At that point turn left passing Arisaig and onwards to Mallaig to catch the 1520 hrs ferry to Armadale.  Visit the Clan MacDonald museum and grounds before travelling north to Broadford where we will stay for 2-nights.  Day 3, travel NW along the foot of the Black Cuillins and onto Dunvegan Castle, the seat of the Clan MacLeod.   Continue onto the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, Portree and Broadford for a 2nd night.  Day 4.  Depart at 0930 hrs and visit Eilean Donan Castle. Continue onto Invergarry, the Great Glen and the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge.  The final leg of the journey is via Fort William, Appin then return to Oban.
